Time Settings
Note: For all Session Mode samples described below, assume that the Max Time Per day is set to 120 minutes, and the number of sessions is set to 2,
for a standard session length of 1 hour
Continuous Sessions
If a user logs out BEFORE their session expires, they will then have to wait the Time Between Logins before being able to login again. Once they
log back in again, they will receive the amount of time that was remaining on their session when they logged out originally. This pattern will continue
until a full session has been completed. Once a full session is over, the user will have to wait the Time Between Sessions before being able to
log back in again. At that point, they will receive a full session and the pattern will continue.
Example: A user logs in and gets an hour. They log out with 35 minutes left on their session. If they have waited longer than the Time Between
logins they will receive the remaining 35 minutes of their session. The next time they log in, they use 15 minutes and log out. If they log in again
they will receive 20 minutes. If they then use those 20 minutes, they will have to wait the Time Between Sessions. The next time they log in they
will receive another full session. This will continue until they have used all of their sessions.
Complete Sessions
If the remaining time a user has left for the day is greater than the time of a session, the user will get the full session each time they log
in. If the time remaining for the day is less than the time of a session, the user will get whatever time they have left for the day.
Example: A user logs in and gets an hour. They only stay in for 10 minutes and log off. The next time they log in they will receive another full
hour. This time they stay in for 20 minutes and log out. At this point they have used 30 minutes for the day. The next time they log in they will
receive another full hour. This time they stay in for 40 minutes and log out. Now they have used 70 minutes for the day. Since they have used 70,
and are only allowed a maximum of 120 minutes for the day, the next time they log in they will only get a 50 minute session. Now they log in for
23 minutes. They have now used 93 total minutes for the day. The next time they log in they will receive the 27 minutes that they have left. This
will continue until all of the time is used up for the day.
Expired Sessions
Anytime a user logs out, regardless of their time used, their session is over. It doesn't matter if they stay on for 59 minutes or 5 minutes.
Once they log out, that session ends and the unused time is thrown away.
Example: Somebody logs in for the first time, uses 5 minutes and logs out. Their first session is now complete. They will have to wait the Time
Between Sessions before logging back in again. They wait that time, log in again and use 15 minutes before logging out. Once they log out, their
second session is over. Since they were only given two sessions for the day, they have now used up both sessions and will be unable to log in for
the rest of the day.
